Step 1: Selecting the COM Port for “RS485”
- Make sure that the USB side of the RS485 is plugged in before opening the program.
- In the application's window, locate the dropdown 'COM port' selector on the upper right side.
- From the dropdown, select the COM port that corresponds to the “RS485”.
Tip: To make the identification of the COM port easier, disconnect any other unused USB cables connected to the computer. Following these steps will help you correctly select the COM port for the “RS485 TOOL.”
Step 2: Uploading Firmware File
- In the gray box at the far right, select it to choose and upload a firmware file.
- Locate and select the appropriate firmware file for the battery module you're updating:
- Navigate to the location where you have the necessary firmware file.
- Choose the required firmware file based on the battery module type:
- For Gen 2 battery modules, select the 'FS-48-100-15-V2.056.bin' file.
- For Gen 3 battery modules, select the 'FS-48-100-15-V3.044.bin' file.
- Confirm your selection by selecting the '??(O)' button.
• Under ‘Step 2’, set the ‘start ID’ and ‘End ID’ to 1
STEP 3: Opening the COM Port
- On the upper left side of the application's window, select the 'Open COM' button.
Note: If the driver for the (RS485) was correctly set up, you should see the message 'Open serial port successfully' just on the right.
STEP 5: Positioning the RS485
- Position the RS485 cable into the BMS under the port of DGB-COM for Gen3 and COM for Gen 2 BMS.
- The RS485 cable plugs into a USB port on your computer, and the Ethernet end goes on the COM port on the battery.
Tip: It’s the same process for whatever generation of BMS you have.
Tip: Key Steps for Module Upgrade:
- The BMS MUST BE TURNED OFF to upgrade the modules.
- The Battery modules must be turned ON.
- Ensure that all modules have a green light.
Following these steps is crucial to ensuring a successful upgrade of the modules.
- A message confirming 'Open serial port successfully' should appear.
2. In 'Step 3,' select the 'Upgrade' button.
- If done correctly, you should observe the progress bar and byte counter incrementing, indicating that the firmware is actively being pushed to the modules.
Note: If the procedure was not successful, and you see a 'failed' message, don’t worry just close COM, and open it up again and start again from STEP 4.
Tip: To re-enable the 'Upgrade' button, press the 'Close COM' button located at the top left-hand corner of the application.
