Downloading the Software
If you've already downloaded and installed the Software, go to the section called "Upgrading BMS".
First you need to download the software. Please go to https://www.homegridenergy.com/ and click on the "Help" button here:
Then click on this:
Then click on this:
Once you've clicked on that, it will take you to this page. Click on the following link:
Go to the Upgrade Tools folder:
Once in there, download the following folders:
You either download them the following way:
- Right-click on the folder and click on 'Download'
- Or, select both folders on the left side where the circles show up, and click on the "Download" link above next to "Integrate"
Once you've downloaded them, go to the "Drivers" folder (wherever you've downloaded it) and go to the CAN folder:
Inside the folder, install both of these drivers. Starting with DRIVER 1 first, and then DRIVER 2.
Once you've installed them, we can proceed to use the app.
Upgrading the BMS
Go to the folder we downloaded (wherever you have downloaded it to) named "Controller Upgrade Tool (for all controllers)".
Inside the folder, click on the "Project 1" application:
When you open the application, this is what is going to show up:
Take your USB CAN Analyzer and cables:
Connect the USB to the computer and the square end to this side of the Can Analyzer, and keep both dip-switches down:
Connect the other cable to the Can 1 port:
The Ethernet cable connects to the COM port on the battery:
In the software, change the following values to the ones showing in the circles:
Product Type: Host
KBP: 500
Host address: 1
Select the latest firmware for the controller available, if you don't have that, download it here:
https://www.homegridenergy.com/resources
Go to the "Latest Firmware" section.
Select the firmware on the application.
Click on the connect button:
When you see it says "Connection Successful", you can go ahead and click the upgrade button:
The progress bar will start.
On the battery screen, there will be an Error 25 on the screen. Please do not be alarmed, this is normal. It just means
Once the progress bar is full and says 100%, it is done.
PLEASE MAKE SURE NOTHING INTERRUPTS THIS PROCESS (no unplugging the cable), BECAUSE IT CAN BRICK THE BMS.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
